The first World Food Championships Down Under put Aussies on global culinary map

Three true-blue kitchen heroes set to compete in the United States

The World Food Championships has made its big debut in Sydney and three incredible Aussie cooks have won their Golden Ticket to Dallas, Texas next year in November to compete on the world stage.

Held on 27-29 May, 11,434 avid cooking enthusiasts from across the country gathered at the Sydney Showground to witness some of the country’s most passionate cooks battle out in severn mouth-watering categories, namely Seafood, BBQ, Burgers, Chicken, Beef, Vegan and Dessert.

The winners were John McFadden (Seafood), Norm Nakhoul (BBQ), Stefan Hostettler (Burgers), Binod Dhungana (Chicken), Thimanthi Lakshani Manuwel (Beef), Katya Arzhanaya (Vegan), and Jade Kiggins (Dessert)

McFadden, Kiggins and Nakhoul also won the Golden Tickets and will be representing Australia at the 2022 World Food Championships finals in Dallas, Texas in the US.

While the Sydney event is wrapped, you can still enter the Melbourne qualifier rounds for your chance to win a Golden Ticket entry to compete in Dallas.

For those who want to observe rather than compete, the World Food Championships are set to be a three-day foodie-heaven, with the live competition being held during the Cake, Bake and Sweets Show and Love Cooking Live Show at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, 8-10 July, 2022. Your one ticket gains access to all the action.
